• BioPACIFIC MIP Laboratories COVID-19 Scheduling Information

Work in Elings Hall under the Campus’ COVID Phase 4 guidelines will be much different than they were before the shutdown. Research will ramp-up slowly so that we can be certain that the work environment is as safe as possible. Some of the most significant changes:

• Occupancy within Elings Hall will be limited. Safe distancing, disinfection, health screening and PPE requirements are described in the SOPs.
• Occupancy in 2411, 2419, and 2436B will be limited to one person at a time in each lab. If there are no problems we may increase this to two people at a time, safely separated.
• Researchers need to schedule their lab time in advance: in general schedule requests will be due on Tuesday night for the week beginning the following Monday. Schedule changes will be made using FBS
• There will be no regularly scheduled training classes - special circumstances will be addressed individually.

The laboratories are be open from 9am - midnight. Users who have completed the CNSI and BioPACIFIC MIP laboratory attestations may schedule work time in the labs using FBS.

• To add/modify/cancel or check reservations log into FBS
• If you are new to FBS please read this tutorial. Contact Dave Bothman if you have problems with FBS.

• Read the CNSI COVID Phase 4 SOP
• Read the relevant reopening SOP(s) COVID phase 4 Microfluidics Lab/ COVID phase 4 Innovations Workshop
• Read the Office of Research (EH&S) COVID Safety Presentation
• Sign the attestation that you have read the above documents and agree to follow the rules. Sign the attestation digitally and email it to cnsi-schedule@ucsb.edu.
• Card key access: If you had Elings Hall and BioPACIF MIP access before COVID, or if you are a new user you need to apply for access to the exterior doors and the relevant labs (Synthesis and Characterization 2411 Elings, Additive and Manufacturing, 3436B Elings, and SAX/WSAX system, 3419 Elings at the CNSI access request site.
• Complete the online health screening on the days that you will be working on campus.
• When you apply for card key access we will add you to the FBS reservation system so that you can reserve time in the labs (see scheduling information section above). Remember that you need to reserve the room and the tools that you will be using while in the lab.
