What is a laboratory information management system (LIMS)?

A laboratory information management system, or LIMS, is a type of software that is designed to help manage large volumes of data produced from experimental workflows. In its simplest form, a LIMS acts as a tracking system that monitors the lifetime of a given sample as it progresses through various stages of production and characterization.

Motivation for BioPACIFIC MIP LIMS

BioPACIFIC MIP's LIMS was created in order to streamline the collection of data across BioPACIFIC instruments into a singular repository.

In December 2023, the LIMS was re-designed to integrate, in a feed-forward manner, with the BioPACIFIC MIP electronic lab notebook (ELN). This enables linking experimental data to synthesized materials and experimental protocols described in notebook pages.
